UKDividendTaxCalculator.co.uk provides estimates only. All results are simplified calculations based on publicly available 2026/27 tax rates and thresholds. They are not a substitute for professional financial or tax advice.
What the calculators work out
The dividend tax calculators work out the personal tax on dividends for one UK resident for one tax year: the Personal Allowance (tapered above £100,000 of adjusted net income), the £500 dividend allowance, and the 10.75%, 35.75% and 39.35% rates for 2026/27 (8.75%, 33.75% and 39.35% for the earlier years on the past-years calculator). Dividends are placed on top of your salary and other income, as HMRC does.
What they leave out
- Income Tax and National Insurance on your salary, except where a page says it shows them.
- Corporation Tax paid by a company, except in the worked examples that state it.
- Savings interest, the Personal Savings Allowance and the starting rate for savings, which sit between your salary and your dividends.
- Dividends received by trusts and estates, non-UK residents and the remittance basis.
- Student loan repayments, the High Income Child Benefit Charge and the Marriage Allowance.
- Foreign dividends and Foreign Tax Credit Relief, except in the separate foreign dividend check, which covers the countries it lists.
- Scottish and Welsh rates on salary. Dividend rates are UK-wide, so the dividend figure applies across the UK.
Before you rely on a figure
Check it against HMRC's own calculation after you file, or the figures in your HMRC online account. Rates and thresholds can change at a Budget; each calculator shows the date it was last checked against GOV.UK. If you find a figure you think is wrong, please tell us.
